Dessert Quesadillas with Strawberries and Nutella
This time, skip the cheese. These decadent dessert quesadillas are coated in cinnamon sugar on the outside and stuffed with fresh ripe strawberries, hazelnut chocolate spread, and mini marshmallows. The result is an insanely delicious after-dinner treat that’s indulgent enough to satisfy your sweet tooth but easy enough to whip up on a lazy Friday night in.
We love cheese quesadillas as much as the next person, and we even enjoy making quesadillas for breakfast. But sometimes, we’re looking for something on the sweeter side. These dessert quesadillas are filled with strawberries, Nutella, and marshmallows instead of cheese and meat, making them the perfect post-dinner dessert.
Pull Up A Chair

Rachel: I used to eat crepes with strawberry and Nutella in college, and these remind me of those, but much easier to make.

Emily: These are super easy and kind of taste like choco tacos, but without the ice cream! And you can’t go wrong with strawberries and chocolate or strawberry desserts in general.

Why These Dessert Quesadillas Just Work
- Simple prep, big reward. If you can dice a strawberry and spread Nutella onto a tortilla, you can make these sweet quesadillas. No fancy equipment or techniques required.
- Similar to a sweet crepe, but easier. If you’ve ever had a crepe with strawberries and hazelnut chocolate, this will remind you of that, but it’s much easier with store-bought tortillas instead of crepes.
- Chocolate covered strawberries. Chocolate and strawberry is a match made in tastebud heaven. Add in the flavor of hazelnuts and some marshmallows for texture and subtle gooeyness, and you’ve got the perfect casual dessert for date night or treat-yourself day.
- Churro-like coating. As if the chocolate strawberry wasn’t enough, we like to spread a layer of butter and cinnamon sugar onto the outside of the tortilla so that it crisps up, giving it a churro-inspired flavor and caramelized sugar texture.

Ingredients in Dessert Quesadillas
- Flour tortillas – this recipe uses 10-inch flour tortillas, but 12-inch ones will work too. You just may need a little more butter and Nutella.
- Butter, cinnamon, and sugar – this is the coating for the outside of the tortilla.
- Strawberries – fresh strawberries add the right amount of sweet tart flavor.
- Chocolate hazelnut spread – Nutella or any brand will work.
- Marshmallows – mini marshmallows add flavor and soft, subtle gooeyness.
How to Make Quesadillas with Strawberries and Nutella
Prepare the tortilla. Spread butter in a thin, even layer on top of the tortilla. Mix together cinnamon and sugar in a small bowl, then sprinkle it evenly over the butter. Pat it lightly into the butter so that it sticks.

Assemble the quesadilla for dessert. Flip the tortilla over so that the cinnamon sugar side is facing down. Spread chocolate hazelnut spread all over the exposed side of the tortilla. Sprinkle the strawberries and marshmallows onto one half of the chocolate covered tortilla. Fold the half of the tortilla not covered in strawberries and marshmallows over the other half, creating a half moon shape.

Cook and finish the dessert. Heat a non-stick pan over medium-low heat. Place the dessert quesadilla into the pan and cook for about 3 to 4 minutes, then carefully flip the tortilla over using a long spatula. Cook it for another 3 minutes on the second side. Slice the quesadilla into 4 pieces and dust with powdered sugar.

How To Serve and Store This Dessert
We like serving this with a cup of decaf coffee in the evening, with some fresh strawberries on the side. This dish is best served fresh, but if you have to store it, we recommend putting it in an airtight container in the fridge for 1 or 2 days. Any longer than that and the strawberries will make the quesadillas too wet. Reheat leftovers in a pan on the stove for a couple minutes or until warmed through.

Dessert Quesadillas with Strawberries and Nutella
Ingredients
- 1 large flour tortilla 10 inch
- 1 tbsp butter room temperature
- 1 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 2 tbsp chocolate hazelnut spread like Nutella
- 1/4 diced strawberries (about 2-3 strawberries) patted dry
- ¼ cup mini marshmallows
- Powdered sugar for topping
Instructions
- Place the tortilla onto a cutting board or other surface and spread the butter in a thin, even layer on top of it.1 large flour tortilla, 1 tbsp butter
- Mix together cinnamon and sugar in a small bowl, then sprinkle it evenly over the butter. Pat it lightly into the butter so that it sticks.1 tbsp granulated sugar, 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- Flip the tortilla over so that the cinnamon sugar side is facing down. Spread chocolate hazelnut spread all over the exposed side of the tortilla.2 tbsp chocolate hazelnut spread
- On one half of the tortilla covered in chocolate hazelnut spread, sprinkle the diced strawberries, then the marshmallows. Fold the half of the tortilla not covered in strawberries and marshmallows over the strawberry marshmallow half, creating a half moon shape.1/4 diced strawberries (about 2-3 strawberries), ¼ cup mini marshmallows
- Heat a non-stick pan over medium-low heat. Place the quesadilla into the pan and cook for about 3 to 4 minutes, then carefully flip the tortilla over using a long spatula. Cook it for another 3 minutes on the second side, or until the chocolate spread and marshmallows are slightly warmed through and the cinnamon sugar is lightly caramelized on the outside.
- Slice the quesadilla into 4 pieces and dust with powdered sugar. Serve immediately.Powdered sugar
Notes
- Use diced strawberries instead of sliced. Diced strawberries stay inside the quesadilla better.
- Pat the diced strawberries dry before using them. This helps keep the quesadilla from becoming too wet from the fruit.
- Prepare as you go. This recipe makes 1 quesadilla, but if you’re making more, wait to assemble it until you’re ready to cook it or the strawberries will leak out too much juice onto the chocolate hazelnut spread.
- Don’t overcook it. Keep the temperature of the cooktop no higher than medium-low or medium or you’ll risk burning the cinnamon sugar coating. Cooking the quesadillas longer than a few minutes on each side make the cinnamon sugar taste bitter.
